Like most, I own many bags, have stuff from think tank, tamrac and lowepro. I "need" a new bag. I am looking for the "perfect" travel bag to accommodate the following:

1D Mark IV x 2
either a 70-200, 100-400 or 28-300
24-70
16-35
580 EX II

A spot for a 15 " macbook pro would be a bonus. The use would be transportation on the plane. Then either photography in a city or use while hiking. Basically my play bag. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. One issue is the extent to which the equipment would be easily accessible during the hike, walk etc.

Thanks again:cool::cool:

I'd have a look at the Crumpler Sinking Barge Deluxe or the Karachi Outpost Medium, you don't want something too big if you want it as a day bag as well.

I think the 2 compartment approach of the Sinking barge would make it easier to get to your kit, by swing it around and unzipping rather than laying it down and opening up the whole front or back of the back pack

The LowePro Stealth Reporter 650 AW is what I use for a very similar set of equipment. I keep the hoods on my 16-35 (original model) and 24-70 in a ready-to-use position and mount the hood on my 70-200 f/2.8L IS reversed. I can have any of the three lenses attached to my body when everything is in the bag. Everything is accessible while carrying the bag.

One bag for 2 pro bodies and 3 large lenses. That's going to be heavy. You want to carry all of that as you travel? I'd split it up just to save my back! I'd get the TT Security. It would not fit in the International. I have that one. But for city and hiking, you would not need to repeat the lenses or have 2 camera bodies. For the list you have, consider a belt system or a combined backpack and belt system. Take one camera body, one wide, one medium and one long zoom and call it good. Otherwise, it's overkill. I've hiked many national parks here in the west, Bryce, Zions, Yellowstone, etc. I only take one camera and 2 lenses and maybe a monopod. It's too much to negotiate and there's sometimes water issues you want to avoid. Also, adding the laptop only traveling on the plane, get the low dividers.

Thanks for the comments. To be clear, it is 2 bodies and the lenses described on the plane. I do not plan 2 bodies or even all of the lenses each time I go out. That is one of the dilemmas. I don't want to go on a long duration trip and be caught with a body with a problem and not have a backup. Hence two bodies. On the hike one body! That is part of the dilemma. Even if I use a belt system, I still have to get the stuff to the location by plane.

From the sounds of things, I think a F-Stop Satori would fit your needs quite well. I have a Satori and a Tilopa and I love the packs. Have a review of the Satori on my blog somewhere from a while back. Here is a link.

F-Stop makes some killer packs. Just do a search on the forums to get an idea of what other people think as well.

I got a Kata Pro Lite Bumble Bee 220 PL recently and it is the nicest bag I have ever seen. Tons of room, very well thought out design, high quality construction, etc.. Not cheap, but very nice indeed.
