A suggestion, use RAW size so you can do more editing with the camera's software after the fact.

You'll find most of us here with the G11 don't use the scene modes very much. The scene mode generally sets certain WB settings, iso settings, etc to suit the sort of image but this can be rather generic and may not suit what you are trying to achieve. Better to play first with Program mode, then Av or Tv to suit the situation before going to manual where needed.

Suggest you read your manual further and experiment to see what the different settings does. This will greatly improve your photography in the long run.
