Hi. Unless I'm searching wrong, I can't find anything on printer recommendations. Sorry if this has been covered before.

We're organizing a family photo day and want to print decent 8x10inch prints, as well as perhaps 5x7's. I'd like to purchase some decent printers. They don't have to be Canons, just need to be decent. Print quality is more important than speed. I'm not looking to spend $450 for the Canon 9000 series or Epson or HP equivalents.

I'm hoping to spend less than $300 on 3-4 printers. I'm leaning towards a printer like this Canon iP4700 http://www.amazon.com …TF8&qid=1280557878&sr=1-6 (external link) because:

1. It's affordable (I understand ink will cost much more than the printer)
2. It's not an all-in-one
3. It takes multiple ink tanks

Are my #2 and #3 assumptions wrong? I'm thinking that a printer intended primarily for printing only must be better than one that's for everything. And that ink that comes in separate tanks must be better than HP's system (where 3 colors come in 1 tank).

Any help and advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Mid-Range Priced Photo Printer Recommendations

Hi. I asked a similar question a few days ago, but NO responses.

So I figure I might get some responses with a Poll.

I've got about $300 or so to spend. I'd like to buy 2-4 printers that can print up to 8x10" prints for a community family portrait day. Which printers/brands would you recommend or have had great or not so great experiences, and why? I know that I can go to other websites, but you guys are so nice and thorough with your responses.

Thank you for your time.

Not enough for what you're describing. You'll spend more than that on ink and paper alone.

four printers ??? one will do the job unless you are going into business. Check out the Canon line of printers, great resolution and color and good prices IMO I use a Canon MP 560 that has wireless capability and has the ability of taking sdhc and cf cards in the printer and you can also hook your camera up to the printer directly bypassing the computer all together.

Canon 60D,18-55mm,55-250mm,50mm compact macro, AF ext tubes. Sigma 8-16mm uwa, 18-250mm, 85mm F1.4, 150-500mm
