Hi fellow glass owners,

I was using my lens at the weekend and noticed the very narrow ridged ring around the lense (just before the ring with the focus stop buttons) rotates slightly ... only about 1/2 cm either way.

Now I don't recall this doing it before ... should I be worried ? What does it do ? Is it service time ?

Thanks in advance

This is the focus recall, you probably didnt notice it before. If you turn on and preset a focus point turning the ring will return the focus to the point saved.
If it doesnt move then its time for service LOL
Comes in quite handy sometimes.

Yes it does. I use it all the time when shooting soccer. It makes it nice to have a common spot pre-focused and all I have to do is hit the ring and voila, it's in focus.

I had to google it when I got my lens, too. Don't feel bad.
