Looking for a cool gift for a friend, who just bought a T2i, on a 100$ budget. Any suggestions? He only has the body with the kit lens and a 50 1.8 so far...

depending on his skill level, Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson is a really good book!

If this is their first camera then they probably do not have any of the incidentals that are needed such as: lens cleaning tissue, lens cleaning fluid, APS-C size sensor swabs and fluid, soft brush, Rocket air blower. A box of this stuff would make for a nice little gift.

1.How about a care package? extra t2i battery, extra memory, camera bag, 52mm reverse lens mount adaptor for turning the 50 into a 'macro'lens, a starter tripod, etc. Start a cart in amazon and see what you get for $100.

2. track down a used tamron or sigma 70-300 lens (around $100). Decent starter lens with zoom and 1:2 macro

3. get him a decent 3rd party flash.

Really depends on your friends interests.

bannedPermanent ban

Get him a 18-55mm zoom for $100.
Also, 3rd party flash (like Opteka or YongNuo) will do
Or a cheapie tripod

Nice camera bag

This.

You can grab a Canon Bag for around 60bucks, they're quite durable, I love mine.

People saying kit lens and nifty fifty, I'm pretty sure he has both 18-55 and 50mm 1.8, since the 18-55 is the kit lens, and the nifty fifty is the 50mm 1.8

you might wanna add the info of the lenses he already has to the other thread you started about this... (edit: i now saw you did, so skip that :)) i suggested the nifty fifty there, also the 18-55 was a valid suggestion. how about a voucher for accessoires? i find the bag idea not to bad, although i know that i would want to choose my own bag, i probably wouldn't be completely happy with something i didn't choose myself...

a cheapy bouncible flash would be a good choice
or a camera bag, with light aluminum tripod will work too.
