Hi, first post here. I'm not a good bird hunter, and still working on being a decent photographer, but I'm so excited.

I have these little yellow birds around the house occasionally. Man, are they small and fast, and have never been able to catch them. I have lots of pictures of blurry yellow things, which you can't make out. Finally, I got a couple of pics, that aren't too blurry.

Thanks for looking, and CC Welcome.

It was watching me, intently.

That's a wonderful bird capture and a nice looking creature too!

I've had a female Goldfinch "buzzing" me as I lay in wait of hummingbirds. I'm tempted to shoot the pretty little bird but that means changing settings and of course about the time I have the setting changed for the Goldfinch, a hummer shows up. What to do, what to do...

If you want them to hang around a bit longer, grab a nyjer seed sock and hang it from something with a pretty background. Once they find that, they will bring their friends. And, the best part is that squirrels, assuming you have that issue, too, don't like nyjer seed much. I have noticed my Goldfinches and House Finches flock together. I thought I may have one or two in the neighborhood.....boy, did I turn out to be wrong. I have dozens within a stone's throw of my house that I never knew about....thanks to the nyjer seed.

They also like black oil sunflower seeds and if you grow some sunflowers each summer, they make great props and the birds love them, eating the seeds right off the heads. Great photo ops.

When you get your sunflowers up and running, post a pic. I have yet to get one over a foot tall because either a critter nips them off or they just fall over. Sunflowers are like my archnemisis for some reason. Every time I pass someone else's driving around, I growl at myself for not being more successful with them. There is nothing quite like a finch on a sunflower head bobbing in the wind.
