Halena and Peter are getting married later this year at their house in San Diego. Last weekend we enjoyed a day at Balboa park together shooting photos and enjoying everything the park has to offer. We later made it down marina area where the USS Midway is, which provided a great background for some shots! Hope you enjoy.

I like how the subjects are really popping out of the images. nice work on the editing too. There is just something with #6 picture that did not work for me. I guess the background is taking away my focus from the couple. It is technically good but the composition just doesnt work for me.

Care to share what lens you used? The bokeh is really great in 1, 2, 5, and 7.

Good composition, I like the DOF. My only fuss would be to crop out the person in the background on #1.

I like the flare, how did you light these?

Nice background separation and I think your technique is there, especially with the use of long glass for perspective in Balboa Park, but I have to say that from these examples, the background is very dominant and the couple are getting a bit lost. I would like to see examples of both - tight crops, plus the full-length and 3/4 crops shown here. Even at F1.whatever, you still have to watch out for the peeps around them, like the guy seeming to pick a coin up off the ground from behind her rear end on #3. They look like a low key couple and I imagine it might have been tough to get a lot of expression going on with them.

I've found that to happen more often with older couples than with younger couples.

For #6 I was trying to make the subjects look small compared to the Air Craft Carrier that is in the background. Just thought I would try something different.

Yea, they were very very low key. The guy was super traditional and really didn't want to kiss her in front of me. I really had to try hard to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera.

As for the lenses I used...I used a 70-200 f/2.8 for #2, 3, 6, and 7. The rest were done with an 85 1.2
