If you add a camera backpack to the list, then you could strap it on there, since most of the camera backpacks have the ability to hold a tripod/monopod.

True. But i wanted to be able to take it almost everywhere with me and be able to conceal it. I have a small camera bag now that hold's the camera with both lenses. And i throw that in my school bag that i carry around with other stuff.

I'd spend the money and get a really great lens. The 50 1.8 is not bad, but the 85 1.8 for close ups will blow your current lens away. It's $350, so not cheap, but worth it. For wider shots just use your kit lens and adjust the f stop so it's sharper and lets good light in, but doesn't lose details. Get a good book about basic digital photography to read on the plane and when you have down time. But really, you want to enjoy the relationship and capture a few good moments. Sometimes, I think my P&S does just fine and won't distract me from my family. Have fun and good luck! Oh, and I use a UV B+W also all the time when I'm out, mainly to protect the glass from the sand on the beach. Works great.

My children and grandchildren are the reason, but it's the passion that drives me to get the perfect image of everything.

My honeymoon was accompanied by a good quality Canon P&S, not a bohunking camera outfit. Having a less expensive camera around was a blessing for places like drenching yourself in the sun on the beach, when you worry about stole dSLR as you and spouse go for a dip to cool off.

Well we have a Sony point and shoot, and it take's horrible pics for the most part. This is why we wanted to get this camera. I plan on bringing both, But will most likely use the T2I more than the Sony...

Well, a P&S in green box mode certainly can produce junk photos, which is why every P&S that I own has Av and Tv and M. P&S can produce quality results...on POTN I once posted 3 P&S shots (including one from my honeymoon!) and 3 dSLR shots and challenged someone (who was frustrated at this P&S vs. others in a photo club using dSLR) to correctly identify which shots were which...he was wrong about all six! Proving my point that the camera is an enabler, but it is the photographer who makes the shot.

I agree with you 100%, The Sony P & S that i own is very difficult to navigate through for adjusting the setting. Now i am no professional my any means, I am not even and amateur, pure NOOB. But i have been able to take far superior photos with the T2I in the past 3 weeks then i have with the Sony in the last 3 years. And when i am shooting with the T2I i try not to use the Green box mode at all. Like most have told me just shoot and have fun with the camera. Now mind you i may be able to take better photo's with the Sony not b/c i am learning alot more about settings, and general operation of a camera instead of just pointing and shooting lol
