Does anyone know anything about this tripod? Seems pretty good to me but I don't know much. The thing I don't like about it is that the base is not a quick release. I really don't like threading the base of the camera on and off every time I want to use it. Any way to convert the base to a quick release base?

Thanks!

Your probably just looking at a set of legs, you'll need to add a ball head or a 3 way head to get the quick release clamp.

Can you post a link for it? I can't actually find this tripod anywhere, which leads to suspect you should avoid it like polyester socks at a firewalking contest.

Did a Google search on Minette tripod and came up with a few hits. Looks like it was mad by a company that went out of business decades ago. It was apparently made for move cameras and has a panning head. Is this something in your possession, or are you considering buying one? I think there are much better tripods available at a reasonable cost.

No, I have this tripod. I know it is pretty old, but it seems pretty well built. Probably not the lightest out there but from what I have heard of people complaining about plastic this and plastic that, and that my tripod fell over and the head broke off...well that is not going to happen with this tripod. It is a complete tripod with a panning head, etc...the only thing I didn't like was the base. It doesn't have the quick release plate, just the normal screw that screws into the base of the body.

Oh and thank you for your input!

If the tripod works for you, you could buy a quick release adapter and a camera plate. Lots of companies make plates that have the 1/4-20 hole. I put a Manfrotto plate on a hiking staff for about $30. Or you might be able to remove the head and put a ball head on. Most tripods have removable heads.

I actually have the same brand of tripod, Model S-11
Looks old, but has a lot of adjustment and feels well made, no plastic in it. Also tried to look for info on the net but nothing found.
Don't mind for the quick release.. a little practice with the tri-wing screw should do it... (finger flick!):)
