This was my first try at smoke photography, the setup was very basic.

number 4 is the winner for me.

the rest could use a tad bit of contrast boost to make those colors come alive!

They look very cool - even for a desktop background - Nice Job


Canon 40D with Canon BG-E2N Grip and 430EX Speedlite Lens = Canon 24-70 F/2.8L USM, Canon 70-200 F/2.8L IS USM, Canon 400 F/5.6 - Adobe CS3 for editing :p

7 - would make an excellent desktop image - mesmerizing to look at during post-lunch coma at about 14:30.

I agree with corkney, would like to know behind the scenes stuff.

I've made a little sketch of the setup I used, as I mentioned it was very basic, I don't have a backdrop so I ended up what was available at home:

Excellent sketch and screenshot, never realised the effect was something as simple as pressing invert in photoshop.

Now that you mentioned it... you're right!

Smoke is just amazing to photograph, it can create so many different shapes and you never know what you might capture
