SD Card ?

I need to get an SD card for my XSI. I was looking at the SDHC cards but someone told me that my Gateway T-1616 5-1 reader will not read the SDHC cards, only the SD cards. They said something like it would harm the card to do that?

I don't want to hinder the performance of my camera by getting an inferior card. Should I purchase an SDHC card and a reader to read it, or can I do just as good by connecting the camera to the computer via usb? Right now I am connecting my 300D to my computer via usb and it takes forever to download images. I don't want that.

An SDHC card wouldn't harm a regular SD reader; it just wouldn't work. But readers are cheap. Just get an SDHC card and reader and don't worry about it. You'll find a good reader is much faster than a direct camera connection for downloading files.
