I bought two used Sigma 500 DH Super Flashes, got a great deal on them, besides the point...

Wll the guy that owned them had a 20D, and had bought a canon flash, the hot shoe on one was broken, pretty common, cheep to fix.

anyway my sisters wedding is coming up and the flashes will not work with a 50D without an upgraded board according to sigma is "Free" to replace just pay shipping both ways. Okay fine...

i send them both in one box UPS tracked and insured...

i explain to sigma that i need them back ASAP, the nicely push the order next day i get the repair order.... 140$ !!!!!

they claim the Mirror base unit is bad on one and it needs the upgrade they wont do it without fixing the other part... 60$
the other they say the hot shoe is Broken along with the IR panel, (little red piece of plastic) 70$
10$ for shipping

i Quickly call them and ask them to explain what the repair oder means(both flashes as far as i could tell worked perfectly normal)

they would only do the upgrade if i paid for the repairs... all of them i asked what they meant by the IR panel was damaged they CLAIMED it was cracked... argued with them for a while, they ended up taking off 10$ for the IR panel.... sent me a new invoice ( i paid it, had no choice due to the wedding) they proceeded to charge me the full amount 140... called the bank got that taken care of...

they ship them out, got them today, and wouldn't you know it, now the built in diffuser will not come out properly, and both IR areas are scratched meaning they did not replace the CRACKED panel.... because it wasn't cracked....

shoddy repair techs, poor business practice...
