Havn't picked up the camera in a while, been to busy. I had to make a 4 hour drive for work and decided I could spare some time and take some shots.

1)Is the first one a little harsh on HDR? I wanted a very drastic taste without over dooing it. I also was unsure of the selective saturation, but so much foliage looks horrible in green when agressively HDR. (Didn't bring my tripod, so its form a single raw)

2)Never shot a horse before, I'm crazy about this shot but question the post proc. To unnatural?

3)This was just a test shot with my 70-200 to test the sharpness and it blew my mind. Hand held, no sharpening done just a small saturation boost. is it to cold?

#1: for once I would say add more vignetting, make it really look old, maybe even add more effects like grain and acid wash.

#2: not uniform illumination on the horse's head. With a shot that close and that clear it should all be exposed correctly for detail.

#3: I say spot on. Not the very best composition or crop but it is well exposed and takes the eye right to the heart of the flower.

Keep up the great efforts. Work on the horse in PS and it should come alive, add more dramatics to the first one and make it take you back in time, and good work on the flower just don't crop it so tight and keep it out of the dead center.

There are my thoughts. ;)

For me the horse wins hands down.good perspective, nothing overdone or cooked...you can add light where needed in edit easily....

Fist one is totally overdone, just my bent, and the last is dead center and clipped, but the focus is good.;)

You could, maybe, try an aged photo preset on the 1st one. Might take some of the green out as you were saying. Nice shots. Watch out that you dont cut some of the flower off, either when composing the shot or in post. Shame to see a beautiful flower get chopped like that. :)

I had a little play with the horse, 8X10 crop, dodge and burn, and added GND....

I'm with Flo in that the horse wins hands down. I am really tired of selective color images and I'm not crazy about the last composition.

I would still crop more off the top of the horse one though. Just like a human portrait you want the focal point of the image, the eyes, in the top 1/3 line. Just leave a little space between the ears and the top would be my suggestion.

The 70-200 is incredibly sharp, isn't it!:D
