I've searched through countless posts and couldn't find my answer.....so here it goes.

I've been asked to take some shots for the local youth soccer league recently, and I was already at that time thinking about picking up a couple more CF cards.

My question is -- what's the max speed card I should be looking at? Right now, all of my cards are Extreme II (15mb/s) cards. They have been sufficiently fast for all of my shooting so far.

So I'm curious if anyone has tested speeds of an Extreme IV vs. Extreme III card in a 40D.

IOW, I don't want to pay for more speed than I am going to see real-world benefit from!

Thanks in advance!

casaaviocar,

Many thanks for that link, I've just been comparing the fastest write time of any cards, using my 30D and comparing it to more modern stuff.

30D: Fastest 6.78 MB/s

50D: Fastest 33.7 MB/s

Thats a dramatic increase in processing speed in a very short period. Also interesting that the Silicon Power CF120X cards I use have not been tested.

I believe the 50D uses a UDMA CF card. So the transfer speeds is attributed to that.
