First portrait attempt....
Natural light. EOS40D, 85@2.2, ISO800
The focus is on the gold ring.

You have what appears to be a very attractive wife, but this shot does not seem to flatter her. Her chin is tucked making her look like she has a double chin.

The focus point may have been on the ring, but the pose and composition do not really "focus" the viewer on the ring. My eyes are drawn to the hair near her ear. Either try another pose/composition or even better would be to focus more on her eyes, and get both of them in to the frame.
