Yes, timing is everything but next time would you ask your model to turn slightly to the right for a better profile view? Just kidding, very nice pic! Can't say I have ever seen a trout this far out of the water either..

I have tried to get a leaping fish for so long...but you can't predict where they will pop up. How in the world did you get this shot???? Beautiful!!!!

seriously, how did you get this shot?

on my past visits to the lakes, i'm always the guy turning his head too late after the fish has already jumped...

i was watching it jump and somtimes it did it twice so i focused on the spot AFTER it landed and tried to guess were it would jump next so i was pree focused and just had to get the focus point more or less on the fish when it jumped again then jab the shutter button .
I did have 1/3rd of a second to play with lol
oH and i often went the wrong way so it jumped out of frame
Rob
another :) in this one you can see the ripples from the first jump behind the fish

Those are some great captures. Timing was quite good, and I am guessing your patience is as well.

Great shot, it's amazing watching trout rise for bugs. They'll jump clear out, as you have shown, for a falling bug. Beautiful Cutthroat, wish we had them like that on the East Coast of the US.

From my point of view, you show a very skillful ability combined with knowledge of your subject. Which is why you have taken brilliant shots!!
