I used my 70-200 with converters a lot untill I got my 300. The 70-200 does not get much use nowadays. The 300 is hand holdable for birding but for sports I use a monopod.

I love 300L2.8 .. unfortunately it's a bit slow for indoor sport .. but zoom is not much better for indoorHuh? 2.8 is 2.8 whether it be 70-200 of 300. Ive shot a 300 2.8 wide open under he crappiest lights ever seen and got far better results than even thinkable with a 70-200 2.8 with a TC that just knocked you back to f4.

Occasionally, they will bring the 300 f/2.8 for shooting the far end of the court. I have seen the 200 f/1.8 a couple of times.

That statement made no sense, no offense intended. The only thing you are going to get that is faster for indoor sports at a shorter FL is a 135L of an 85 1.8 of which I prefer the 135?Unfortunately, for quadbike races and dog agility, indoor halls used for such events are really terrific, nothing less than 4000iso can be used @f2.8, (if you don't do any panning of course)... Works great on the 300 and 400 though The 1.4 was ok on my 70-200 mk1 but stunning on the mk2, but I must admit theres nothing like the 300f2.8
