I like the F-5XC because of its small size but I really want a bag to carry a 70-200 f4 mounted as well as my 17-50 (eventually a 24-70) and a flash. I was playing around with it tonight (along with my 70-200 mug :) ) and it seems like it's going to be too tight. I love everything about the R10 but wish it was a little bit smaller. I already have the F-804 super satchel, which is way too big for everyday use, and I feel like there isn't enough of a difference in size between it and the R10 to justify the purchase. Why drop $150 for a bag that's not a lot smaller than the one I already have?

Anyway, I think you're right that the f4 IS will fit in the R10. I think I'm going to order one tonight. I'm tired of obsessing over this. Thanks for the reply.

I have considered the lens changer 3, but I want the versatility incase I ever run into a situation where I absolutely need to stick the camera in there too, you know?

I've been looking at them as well. If you look, the flap comes over the tubes an inch or two higher than their top, and a 70-200 COMPLETELY goes into them... So it's almost like you could stash a camera on the center lens and it might work? I really wish I could see one IRL, I almost think I might like it better than the R10!

Does anyone know if the R10 will hold a 70-200 F4 IS mounted on a 50D? I know the R20 will hold it vertically but I think the R20 is a little too big.

can you or someone else let me know how big a 70-200 f/4 is ON A BODY? If it's <8" it will easily fit. If it's ~8.5 it's right at the lower/front part of the lip of the bag. if it's ~9" it'd probably still close but be snug, any more than that and I think it'd be too much?

B&H has it listed as 6.8" long for just the lens. Not sure how much just a body adds to that, but I'd bet it's close to that ~1.2" that'd be left. I'd say it'll fit.

BTW, how many dividers does the R10 come with?

plenty... It comes with a bag. 2 main dividers are in it when you get it and there are 2 on the bottom that cover the "floor" but can be removed if you like. But the included bag has probably 5~8 more in it?

Me too.. I really wish I lived closer to a camera store so I could actually feel bags and mess with them before I buy them.

The 70-200 f/4 IS on a 7D is 9.5" tall.

I am not sure I would go any bigger then the 10 for a shoulder bag. I tried out the 20 and its very nice and there are times I would like to keep my 70-200 2.8 attached but how much can you carry on your shoulder. I have been going smaller and smaller lately and my latest attempt to get lighter is a change up and digital holster 20. I like the change up because it can be used different ways and the holster can fit any lens I own. The change up also can fit pouches so we'll see how it goes. So far I am liking it as most often I only carry a camera with an extra lens + flash.

I must be bigger than I think, because to me the R20 isn't very big at all.

I picked up a black R10 at lunch today. My local camera store (Hunt’s Photo) has a number of stores in MA but only had one left in all of them. I called early enough today for them to be able to get it transferred to the Boston store for me. I’ve only had a chance to play with it in the store but the first impression is that it lives up to the hype. Nice, nice bag. It’s not as big in person as it looks in the pictures but I do wish it was a little thinner, maybe 5.5” instead 7”. That’s just my personal preference for smaller bags, though.

Very cool Ben. It's nice to see that TT recognizes your reviews and feedback. Can you hook me up with a Rotation 360? ;):p

did that have any of the lens changers (there's a store near me as well in PVD)? As for the thickness, pack it tight, use all the velcro and you can make it DAMN skinny. You just make it so with the flap. ;) When I'm carrying just lenses in it while shooting I do that.

Didn't notice you're from RI. :) I didn't look for lens changers but the Boston store has limited stock. As you probably already know, the flagship store in Melrose carries much more.

I'm sure I'll be able to pack it tight. As you can see from my signature, I don't have enough gear yet to worry about it getting too thick. The 70-200 is next and then probably the 24-70 or 24-105. That's another topic, though.

Enjoyed your review, Ben.
Here's a link to Henry's. $209.99 + 13 percent H.S.T. and I can take one out the door. What's that? about $237?

It's time I stopped considering the bag. Should focus on a POTN vest instead!
