Hi guys a pal has just got a 7d, he wants a directional mic anyone have any ideas? he needs it for wildlife. Thanks in advance.

i have never used it before but im about to get one and i have heard good things. i personally dont think you can go wrong with sennheiser

i dont see a on/off switch on that super cheap one. the rhode isnt too bad, i forgot about them, i think i might pick that one up instead. thanks

Just ordered that amazon one with overnight shipping for only 92bucks. so my 7D and mic will be here tomorrow..

I have the Rode Videomic - works great. Well, on my 5D Mark II anyways.

Just remember that the 7D has auto gain control which can be problematic. Hopefully they'll fix that in some future firmware version like they did on the 5D.

Another alternative down the road (August 20th, 2010 apparently) is this - Zoom H1:
