A couple of weeks ago I started a thread about a lens my brother found. We were looking for the owner so it could be returned.

Well, my brother found him. He verified ownership by serial number and the lens has been returned.

For those who were curious, the lens was a Canon 200 mm f/1.8L. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try it out before it was returned.

Your brother is a very honest man. Good job on his part. I'll bet the owner was thrilled to get that back!

Awfully nice of both you and your brother to go to all the extra effort to see that the lens got back to the right person

I hope the owner indicated his gratitude with a reward. That lens is not only valuable, but quite rare.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

Wow, it was a 200/1.8?!?!?! I hope the guy was EXTREMELY grateful. There are only a few lenses that cost more than that thing, which happens to be my dream lens, btw.

Very honest men both of you. Houston is a huge city, mind telling us how your brother found the owner?

My brother actually found the lens in Salado. I'm not sure exactly how he found the owner, but I know he contacted a couple of photographers in the area. Turns out to have belonged to a studio there.

Can you imagine the shock of realizing you just walked away and left a $3,500 lens sitting on a rock?

Well I would certainly hope it was insured ... although somewhat irreplaceable, no matter what amount the insurance company paid. Kudos to you, and particularly your brother, for doing the right thing.

So what your saying is your Brother needs to quit his day job and run to Europe to go on a quest for the Holy Grail!

Cause that's pretty much what he found sitting on a rock in Salado!!!!

Wow... honest guy!

If you find the other one that was lost give me a crack at the serial number first. Really that was a very nice thing you and your brother did.

Wow, that's seriously honest ! Congratulations. I must be honest to myself and admit that I would have had a lot of doubts about how handling the problem. Probably I would have tried to find the owner and return it but quite frankly, I'm not so sure. Who knows, maybe its just some sort of envy and I would have done the same thing your bro did for sure. But I will live the rest of my life with the doubt (hoping to never have the same problem :D)

I'll be honest. I would have given it about 2 weeks and then given up.:D He gave it 3 weeks and that is when he found the owner.
