Not sure where this kind of stuff is coming from but the drive is rated at 200G operating - 2000G non-operating shock. So unless you all planning on stapping your camera to the front bumber of your car - you don't have any worries about these things dying because the are dropped from 3 feet.

Sandisk Ultras are also rated at 2000g non-operating - the very same as the Microdrive.

I'm not trying to be argumentative here but it's very hard for me to believe that a miniature hard drive which has moving parts will stand as much shock as a solid state card. It defies the laws of physics.

Absolutely intuitively here you would think of something with moving parts would not be as reliable as something without. And it may very much be true that the CF can withstand more impact (g's) then a microdrive - but the point is that under normal and reasonable use - both are engineered to withstand a drop from 10 feet (hence the 2000G) number. These things are used in thousands consumer electronics - and are engineered not to survive photographic use - but rather teenager use... which is much more harsh. And like you - not trying to be argumentitive - just trying to help dispell some missinformation going on around here - there things are hardly fragile.
