Hey guys,

I'm getting a hand of my recently bought Digital SLR (Canon Rebel XS) but I'm having a hard time on PP. I'm shooting only in RAW and in Manual mode. I took this today and have tried to fix it in LR3 numerous times but I'm not getting what I want.. Can someone help me so next time I know what I can do with most of my pictures like these :)

Appreciate all your help.

We can't tell you what you want to do. That's one of the great things about photography because it's what you want, not us. The composition is awkward as I don't know what you were trying to focus on (the bus or the people) and if it is the people, they're underexposed. Keep working at getting the pic you want out of the camera rather than relying on your post work to make up for it and you will enjoy photography a lot more.

After reading a bunch of David duChemin's books this past week - the questions are:

Why did you take the picture? What made you decide to take the shot? Was it the bus? The people?

Depending on what moved you to take the photo should point you in the direction you want to go in PP if any at all.

If it was me - the red and blue coats with the yellow would have been what I was going for, but that's just my interests.

I like the photo. Other things you can try if you are looking for something different:
1. Bring up the Fill Light and the exposure. You will get more detail of the people and the bus.
2. Convert to B&W and play with lightening and darkening of the various colors. Try a sepia look while you are in B&W mode. You can get a very dramatic look.

I was standing there waiting for someone, it just came naturally, the bus was there and no one was interested in getting in or out.. and these guys were sitting there for a long time. So it struck me :)

@rbeene

Good idea, I'm trying that one out right now :)

And thanks everyone, I've been a member of POTN for over 5 years - haven't been involved like this (didn't had a good Camera) and I really appreciate whatever I'm learning.
