If you go with the Tiffen MegaPlus 2X (Teleconverter), You'll need the 52-43mm step ring and 52mm adapter to attach the lens. You can use the Hoya HMC UV filter or Circular HMC Polarizer that are 67mm if you want a filter for the lens. This is what I'm purchasing.

I am interested in buying the Tiffen Megaplus 2X teleconverter for my G6 with the particular object of photographing birds at the feeding station in our garden: from our kitchen window this is about 40' away.

I have had no experience of using telephoto lenses and am not sure that this teleconverter will be adequate for the purpose: as the lens fitted to the G6 has focal lengths equivelant in 35 mm terms to 35mm-140mm we are tooking of a maximum zoom to 280mm - again in 35mm terms. Would this magnify sufficiently at that range?

Why don't you get a S2IS instead I owned the G6 and did not care for it much.
That's my personal opinion so G6 owners please don't be offended.
