Whoa! I wouldnt put a full monolight on that stand! Not if youre intending to also have it hold a modifier! That was why I suggested the Elinchrom Quadra! Its lighter than a 580EX II and about the only "higher powered" strobe Id trust on that stand!

i should have made myself clearer. I am using the Nikon SB28s with the Pixel TD 383 packs on these guys.

I am going to build a custom sandbag that weighs 3 lbs to help keep it on the ground. what do you guys think? 3 lbs or 5 lbs?

Thanks! 5 lbs sounds like a good weight. I am going to build the sandbag today. :D I'll post a picture of it here when i finish! :D

The stand is coming on tuesday. The LP604 is 25 dollars this month. How can you go wrong?

For weights I bought ankle and wrist weights at Target.
Compact and have velcro straps.

BTW, Calumet Photo has their own branded version that is also on sale. I think I paid $21 each.
