Thanks, guys. Here's where I stopped working on it last October. I have no idea if it's "finished" or not, so I'm giving it some time to ferment in my mind.
:D

Frank, I'd be quite happy with this one. One minor nit though, please remove the PS'd frame, mount it in a real frame, then HANG it. ;)

if it was me, I remove the lens flare and the frame. once that done then the shadow will look normal and it will still be a great photo.

What lens flare? The "God Rays"? That's one of the things I liked best about the sky?

Bruce, I have a 12"X18" proof sticking on the wall. The frame is just to separate the pic from the light forum background, which makes it look darker. Seen this? The center bar is the same intensity all the way across.

:D "Red sky at morning, sailor take warning,..."

I have not even began to try something like this in PS.

It's really not that hard. But it does take a lot of nit-picking work. ;)

Selecting areas in PS. This works well with something that has hard edges.

EDIT: This is a simplified version of the Layer & Channel Pallets to illustrate using a Layer Mask to hide part of an image. Normally, I would have put the sky image over the P-51 image. Dunno why I did the reverse here.

The exposure was for the clouds? In the 1st post, "I had this idea when I shot it & combined it with a sunset I shot years ago.", should give you a clue? ;)
