What Remote for S2?

I'm thinking of getting my wife a S2. She currently uses a G3, but there a lot of times she complains about the shutter lag. My main question is about the remote shutter release. The G3 has a IR remote shutter release that looks like a mini remote control. I perused the reviews and the Canon site, but I find no mention of the remote shutter release capabilities. What kind of remote does it use, wired or wireless, etc.

S2 has no remote option, but the S1 does.

Try using the self-timer instead.

BTW, you will not get rid of shutter lag by using a remote, however, you will eliminate the small "shake" that may be introduced by depressing the shutter button with you finger. The best way to get rid of shutter lag on a P&S camera is to prefocus your shots and lock the exposure/focus (in addition to choosing the highest shutter speed for your application).

EDIT: Just wanted to add that the S2 uses Canon's Digic II processor and is very fast to acquire focus (in most situations) and snap off pics without much lag. The burst mode is fantastic!

Yes, I know that the remote and shutter lag are two separate issues. I'm looking at the S2 because it has the Digic II processor and the zoom cababilities with IS. I can't believe that they added the super macro, yet doesn't have a remote release capabiity. Using a self timer is a far cry from a remote release. You can't sync the release with movement, etc.
