Hello fellow Potn'ers, have a small question.
I recieved a rather old (compared to me) camera from a friend.
Its labeled as a Canon Autozoom 814 electronic, as far as i can tell its a super 8 cam.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this model or a similar one, im not sure if it works or not, planning to go buy new batteries and some film to try it out sometime this week, but any tips, hints or general info is appreciated.

It is indeed a super 8 mm camera. Back in the mid 70's, this was Canon's second level super 8 mm camera, after the 1014. The 814 designation reveals that it's a camera with 8 times zoom and max aperture of 1.4. There were also XL cameras, which featured the ability to open up the shutter to 220°, not only the normal 180°, and thus get longer exposure time and hence better performance in eXisting Light.

Maybe there are scanned manuals around?

found some pdf manuals aye, but the batteries were left in the grip, and rusted abit, had to poke around with a screwdriver to get em out. <put in some new ones but no reaction from the cam, might be busted :(

If there has been excessive battery corrosion, it may very well be that not only were the batteries stuck, but wires, plates etc. may have corroded to such a state that they need a complete overhaul/replacement to make service again.
