I personally think sleeveless is a bad choice from senior portraits. It takes the attention away from the face which is where the attention is supposed to be.

I agree, but you have to shoot them in what they come in...

A Camera, some lenses, a flash, and a whole lot of imagination.

true, but I've come to include in the instructions that they "must" bring at least both sleeveless and sleeved outfits. I've found a dramatic improvement in what I have been getting for those showing up.

Some can pull off the sleeveless while others need not venture there, as we all know... Hell, I don't venture outside in tank tops for a reason, lol. But yeah. I've also had to school a couple of the girls that I've been working with lately that they need to buy properly fitting pants. It's actually helped them and they took the advice and on their re-shoot it worked wonders for them overall.

I haven't been so lucky with getting these people to sign releases to publish their photos for online use or anything else, lol. I think I'm just going to reduce the number of papers I give them to sign so that maybe it'll be more of a thing that they just sign on the dotted line and be done with it. I've noticed a lot of people get really scared when they see the sheet that talks about publishing their photos. I'm trying to work it into my main contract but it's a royal pain in the rear.

I'm working on doing an engagement shoot with some friends that recently got engaged though. It should prove to be quite interesting. Plus I know they will gladly sign all the papers for me.

The last few times ive had people fill out forms, I put the model release on top and they signed it before I got a chance to explain what it was. Before that it was the bottom sheet and they were a bit hesitant. Go figure. :)

lol, I like this approach as well. lol. I'll have to give that a try until I can get it all worked into one document.

I usually just explain it as a form giving me permission to use the pictures in my portfolio as well as for promotional purposes and ask them to read the fine print and ask me if they have any questions.

Kent Chambers

2nd image looks soft, slightly OOF on my moniter plus her arm is clipped. Im hoping that these are the proofs. If not, you need to get some help/advise with post processing, skin smoothing, ect. Not trying to be mean at all, but as the images are presented, they do not appear to be a finished product.

While i prefer sleeves as BoneJj suggested, bare shoulders shots work for most any HS senior girl when they are posed right. Look at some of the posts in here and look for the subtle shoulder turns, twists of the shoulder to waiste ratio, get them to lean into your shot and more use of the hands helps distract some areas and makes for lovely shots. The bare shoulder shots that Aaron Woodhall just posted will give you some really good ideas.

Hope that helps.
Mike

Mike, I think it looks a little too contrasty.

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

I was wondering since I still cut my own corners on my wallet prints. What is the best corner cutter you have found?
