A couple of recent shots from two different sessions with the same girl. Critique away, this was only my third attempt at senior photos and am always looking for knowledgeable constructive feedback.

Julie - Very nice shots.

Jennifer - I like that 3rd shot. Maybe add another light in the back for some hair/rim light. I always carry one additional light but it ends up in the car when I need it. The 2nd shot needs to be taken earlier in the day or with strobe at very low power but higher ISO to bring back the ambient. I had same issue last night as my AB800 doesn't go low enough.

yes, these methods are quite common but I never cared for tie dye type stuff. I don't like those types of muslins as it is.

Same here. There is big difference between muslins you get from say SilverLake or others like them (hand painted stuff) vs tie dye stuff. It is like comparing $2 chuck to nice Barolo.

These are part of the modelling portfolio I was doing for her. She is not a senior anymore. The sun peaked through at this spot and my ND filter was in the bag. So I took the shot without the filter. Little hot but not bad either.

Single AB800 in 37" octabox on camera right. I like how at 200mm you can just squash the bg. Can't do that with my 85mm f1.8.

My son just got a couple of nice backdrops from adorama on Ebay. paid $50.00-60.00 for a couple of 10x20's. I thought they looked great. Also WHCC (whitehouse) has some nice ones for cheap prices.

Jen - you have come a long way since I first started noticing your work. Kudos to you and this set is really very good!

I am pretty new to photographing people (I normally do horse show photography). I have done five senior photo shoots now, the last three of them just this week. Here are a couple from the last couple of days. Feel free to throw any comments/suggestions my way.

Hey Julie,
From one horse shooter to another;), these are great. I am in exactly in the same situation in that I am moving into more portrait/senior type stuff so I sure hope you will comment on mine when I post.

My only comment is that I would like to have seen some bend to her elbows rather than just hanging. And I like to have the model loop the reins rather than have them leading out of the photo. Or I will clone them out.

Went to a place called munsinger Gardens last night. Still going through them but its a great spot for portraits. I used the sun on the last shot as a main light and filled with the softbox

Am I the only one who thinks these look SOOC?
