That one is a bit warm on my monitor. Her teeth looks yellow along with her eye whites.

I see the same in my monitor. I wonder if a warm photo filter effect was applied in post.

Nice job Craig. I am also digging the gel. Something I need to work on during the slow season.

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

Wait, I might be wrong... Its happened before! lol

There's a first time for everything right? But not this time. I was trying something new (for me). I boosted the white balance in camera up to around 8,000 trying to get the warm tones. I countered the warm wb with a flash gel but it wasnt enough I guess....I thought I had adjusted the whites of eyes and teeth in post to fix but obviously didn't enough. Thanks for the catch.

I did it in camera not in post. Guess I overdid it. Thanks for the confirmation that I screwed up.

Thanks David. It was fun and she loved the "gellin." It was 40 degrees with 10+ mph winds through the tunnel. She was a trooper and hung in there while I was setting up.

Craig I like the shots but I would have placed her closer to the end of the tunnel. Or even shoot from outside the tunnel with her being little inside with gelled lights lighting up the inside of the tunnel. I mean shooting the other direction. Right now half her background si almost black.

Thanks Bobby. Point taken. Here is what I was facing and I would love some advice. As you see the graffiti was sparse but I thought it added to the scene of the "against the tunnel wall set". But, there was only a few places I could shoot that didnt show profanity or crude drawings. The tunnel was about 70 feet long. Now no excuses for a poor choice but I did like the darker side of it and ended up choosing to leave it that way. I did try to bring out the ambient because I didnt have but 4 speedlites with me. My fault for not having the equipment to pull what your saying off. Bringing up the ambient inside the tunnel to keep it from going dark was possible but it blew out the ambient at the end of the tunnel so I went the direction I did. Here is the best I could do lighting the walls of the tunnel, of course I was half way into the tunnel and only had two lights remaining to light the walls with. To light both sides I would have had a minimum of 2 more.

I will use this location a lot in the future and appreciate the advice from yourself and others. I guess my question is how could I bring up the ambient and not blow out the end of the tunnel or should I just light the whole tunnel with gels (which is what I believe Bobby is suggesting).

Craig,

I loved #5 and the way the repeating pattern of the bolts and the way they vanished into the distance after the model.. I was not looking at the graffiti or lack thereof

Craig

cool location. Way to get creative with the gels:cool:

One-seventeen..you did a good job lighting her up in the full sun. What did you use. Not sure on the second one. Looks good but looks like you tried to fix it in post. No detail in her hair.

Craig, I looked at the shots again. Last night I was on my touchpad watching the game. That is why I saw lot more blacks than they are in actual file. Now looking at them, you did very well. Only think with gelled flash, move it back somewhat so her head and some body will get that rim light and provide separation.

Got your point about the ambient outside, that will be hard unless it was later in the evening.

Gotcha. That's how I had it planned all along. The bolts were a pain in her back...literally. But she toughed it out. Gotta love it. Thanks for your input, as always.

Thanks Mike, Have a ways to go but it was a good start. I do love the location, especially for having a cool shaded "go to" spot when all else fails.

Gotcha Bobby. Will give it a go tomorrow. We will be heading back over there with a blonde to give it a try and see how it all works out with lighter hair.

Thanks for the advice.

Here is how its done Boys and girls.

I have a photovison suscription and i see things that are good and i see things that are very poor. Beth Forester and Kevin Hudson have been on my radar for a couple of years when it come to great looking indoor senior photography. This is where we are taking our indoor seniors work for 2012 so I thought I would share before everyone start asking about lighting patterns. Added Bonus is Joel Grimes,, the guy is very good.

So yeah, I'm breaking down and Buying one because there is nothing that is like the Eye lighter and Ive been Micky mousing around trying to get the look and it just cant be done w/o one. So if you want to get this look in these videos, you got to bite the bullet.

Check out the video, lighting clearly demonstrated and it will help some of you with your lighting patterns. Joel Grimes gets into great detail as to how its done from his perspective. These guys are the best of the best when it comes to this type of senior photography. Especially Beth Forester.

Nice shot Pham. Stop it down 1 stop and see if you can get some more contrast with the lights. I love your studio. This little project of mine is starting to get expensive:mad:.

Beth forester is so good. Her studio is amazing and man does she have the propsbw!. Im very excited and cant wait to get these reps in here in the next few weeks. What grimes does is so simple to do. But you got to have the right stuff. If you slow those videos down, you can see exactly what they do and where they set the lights. After you see it its like DUH..very simple and straight forward.

Pham, what is that at the bottom of your background? The white bar, is that a baseboard?

it is a baseboard, 12 feet long , primed and it makes it perfect.. held up by 4 bricks (2 on each side)
