wammeritt... and others using LR for retouching. How do you smoothen skin in LR? I have LR3 and have used the skin smoothing brush with default setting and they are OK, but not great. I use CS5 and the high pass sharpening method and I am much happier with the consistency. Any tips for doing it better in LR3?

This episoe by Adorama TV seems to explain the phenemenon of freezing morion with flash and why that needs to be the only source in most cases (unless you can overpower the sun/ambient light)

I can hand hold a 24-70 at 1/60 with a flash as fill all day long and not get any motion blur. Your flash, even as fill, will freeze your subject and a slower shutter speed would have let in a lot more ambient, had better detail in the trees and her hair. That's a very hand holdable shot. Try it a few times and you will get very steady doing it.

I use a very similar method for shooting roller derby... Typically darkish rink and fast skaters... I am usually at 1/125th or faster... I have used 1/60th and it is an interesting effect...

Meet Nicole. She is one of our ambassadors and she is an excellent dancer. Tried something different with the first shot. I think we have a really great balance with this lighting set up so I plan on using it for 2012

Mike. I know you don't like a lot of skin work leaving your Seniors looking natural, but just thought I would give one a try how we do ours. The skin tones (redness on feet and splotches on legs, hands and arm) just seemed to me to be in need of evening out a little. What do you think? Just my opinion....which is worth pretty much nothing.

All great shots....as always!!

I haven't done any clone work, just some lighting changes. At any rate, I shot these last night and I had a helluva a blast as she told me about a part of town I haven't been to yet. The only issue was a lot of cars, so it was kinda cramping my style a little bit. Also due to random gusts of wind I had to use the flash bare with her BF being a pretty good assistant.
