Tiff, I was going back through the thread for some idea stealing and I have to say, this shot remains one of my all time favorites. Not only am I a sucker for pale skin and a red lip but Im also a sucker for an awesome composition and a patch of color. Good on you! :D

Tiff how did you get the whole face in focus shooting at F/2.8? With the online DOF calculator, it says that if the subject is 5 ft away, you get a 0.06' or 0.72" DOF.. How can you get the eyes & lips in focus? Were you more than 5 feet away from the senior girl?

To me the biggest issue with this is the lamp behind her head competing for my attention. The hand is blah, but the lamp is the big issue to me. Can you clone it out?

It wasn't all sharp if I recall. One eye was more oof and I'm pretty sure that was with my macro. And nope....no way I was 5 feet away. More like 3 max.

Yeah, EXIF says 100mm/2.8. Now that you mentioned it, I can see her right eye, and the right side of her face a little bit OOF compared to her left eye. I probably found the whole image to be "in focus", because it is much sharper than anything I can get!:oops:

Did anyone catch todays seminar from sal? I've been out and about since 7am and completly missed it.

for those that watched it, care to share any highlights that would be good for business?

I missed both days.

Totally OT - Wife wanted to go house hunting. I think folks from rest of US should someday come over to CA and see how much home you can get for say $700k to $1million. And this is entry level single family house. One place still had waiting list and I thought economy was bad.

I used to live in the SF Bay Area (East Bay) and sometime between '03 and '06 a new development was offering new homes from the "low 700s!" You actually had to win a lottery in order to apply for a home. Sheesh!

I would toss that image all together. the lighting is flat, hand is in a weird spot, expression is blah, and it seems to be out of focus (that could be the compression)
