Hot damn do I like this one! The eyes, the snicker-smile and what not. Love it!

cool shots, you should photoshop the leg hair on his face to help him with the beard. :D

This is my son Logan. These are just practice shots, mostly because he and a friend are growing their, ahem, "beards", for RAGBRAI coming up next week. For those of you that don't know RAGBRAI, it's a seven day ride across the state of Iowa. I'm pretty decent with Photoshop but not sure I could remove the chin fuzz and keep a clean chin line :) No matter, please critique the following shots.

Great shots! Lighting looks fantastic, and the posing is nice. His skin looks a little funky to me on the 3rd one. Did you do any editing on the rest of the face?

Good luck on Ragbrai! I'll be photographing people when they come through my hometown of CR. :)

See, I shouldn't have clicked on your link. Now that's the only thing I'll think of when I see that from now on. I should've known better than to click on a CLICK HERE link, LOL!!

Yeah, you just can't unsee it. Not that it's bad but it just ruins the otherwise great photo for me.

Our family went camping by Mackinaw city. The sunset on Friday night was awesome and I asked my nephew to pose for me for my first experiment with letting in the ambient light, and trying to balance it with on camera flash. Jeff will be a senior this fall, and I will be taking his senior pics. Here are a few that I liked. Comments on posing, & lighting are welcome

I told him to give me a "manly" look, and he did this. Mom thinks he looks very sad... Not doing that pose again!!

Personally I am with Mike. If one is so good why they out on the web telling their secret forumla for everyone to copy. And like I said before I didn't like the style (used car salesman), but that is personal.

Regarding not selling digital negatives, if they are processed and high res, why it is so hard to get same quality print from any half decent online print shop. 16x20 print for $500, give me $2000 and I will give you the file to print 100 times over.

I think it's a combination of things. Just because someone is giving away their secrets, doesn't mean everyone is going to be as successful as them. Jasmine Star and Sandy Puc are pretty transparent in their workshops, but you don't see people stealing business from them, they still have a pretty good bottom line doing photography.

I believe this is the first image I worked on and may have went too far. He has a fair amount of acne to deal with.

Thank you to those that have commented so far!

btw, in the interest of the "How to" title, these were shot with a 580EXII in a QBox 24 as main and a 430EXII with a 6x8 mini-box type modifier as fill, triggered by Pixel Kings. All settings manual.
