Background stands kit, what do I need to get started?

I'm shopping for a background stand kit, going to use either seamless paper or a cheap cloth from a fabric store. I have some Manfrotto gear now, really like the quality but I'm not set on brand names, also I don't think the stands will get that much use.

So wondering what brands are out there that are good for the money? I'm thinking of the B&H house brand, Impact, it's $100 compared to $250 for the Manfrotto.

Other than a roll of seamless paper, I'm suspecting I need two clips?

Thanks!

The savage port-a-stand is a good choice and comes with a free roll of 53" white seamless paper to get you started. A friend of mine has this setup and seems to be very happy with it. I was going to order this myself but decided to build a diy stand with PVC and have been VERY pleased with the results (only spent $30 on supplies as well).

I bought several before finding one I thought was worth anything and actually stable! I ended up going with the Photoflex ProDuty Backdrop Support Kit. LINK (external link)

Do you have room to wall-mount? If so, there are a lot of advantages. One big one is that a couple of hooks and a piece of conduit work well for very little $.

If you go with background stands and use the 9' rolls, think about sandbags or something similar to stabilize.

I have the promaster system and it's been great for the last 3 yrs. No issues with failure or instability with a 9' roll of seamless. Can expand the width to 12' and height to 11' also. Cost me $125 on sale at my local independent photo retailer.

I have the Impact backdrop setup. Got it cause it was cheap. Wish I had spent more.
