Think these things might be having some issues. The receiver's green light doesn't stop blinking when unplugged until it drains another pair of rechargeable AA batteries. Guess I could take out the batteries after each use, but it's supposed to shut itself down after a few minutes of inactivity according to the ppwk that came with the unit.

The CST transmitter (hotshoe mount) doesn't fire the lights when the test button is pushed. Yes, the frequencies are sync'd on both. Tried it on both 5D and 7D bodies. Both bodies work my 430 EX II just fine so it's not the hotshoe mounts. I'd like to think the large disc battery was good for more than 50 or so flashes?

Funny, they worked fine about a month ago. Any ideas?

Thank you.

When the battery is low on the Transmitter weird things happen. On a new transmitter I had the batteries that came with it went bad after two months. The ones from factory were just old. The new set works great. On the Receiver they will stay on for an hour before they turn off. They should blink about once a second.

The battery for the Transmitter should last at least a year, and the batteries for the Receiver will last for 200 hours. If you're using rechargeable make sure they are the low discharge type or yes, they will be dead in two days.

Does the fact that the transmitter blinks redlight once when I push the test button mean the battery is good or bad? If I remove the battery and reinstall it, it blinks red 3 times. Any idea whether this means good or bad? I can't imagine the quarter-sized disc battery died already. Heck, it's only been used ~100 flashes at best.

What do you think?

The transmitter should blink red one time on each test button press... that is good. I don't know about the blink red three times on bat install.

I got a bit more than a year on the transmitter battery and almost that long on the receivers. My receivers are the originals though and the test button can get pushed when packed and run the batteries down. I understand they've recessed that button now.

i'd get new batteries before blaming the trigger/receiver, a little while ago another member posted some pecular things happening with his. the reply was batteries, he tested his and said they were only down point something and should still work, well new batteries fixed his problem. apparently these things are a little voltage sensitive. might be a good idea to keep a spare as well.

Thanks, people. I'll get a new battery for the transmitter and see if this doesn't correct things.

Also, good to know that the receiver is SUPPOSED to blink for a whole HOUR after last activation.

Look for some hopeful 'good news' tomorrow when I can get out and get a new battery for the transmitter.

Thanks again.

Plan B anyone?

Replaced battery in transmitter and it still will not trigger a light. Here is what IS working:

Receiver plugged into light seems to work fine. Press test button, Elinchrom D-Lite 4 flashes as expected. The receiver works plugged into either light.

Replaced battery as recommended in the transmitter. Red light on transmitter lights when test button is pressed. It does not however trigger the D-Lite 4 strobe.

Put transmitter on both 5D and 7D bodies, turned on camera, pressed test button--nothing. Activated shutter on both. Nothing.

Any suggestions? Probably something really simple, but things aren't working. And yes, the frequencies are sync'd on both transmitter and reciever. I've tried several other matching frequency positions and nothing.

Thanks for looking and trying to help. Appreciate it.

Check your channel switches very carefully. The detents are not all that sure on either the transmitter or receiver. And I've even used the wrong side of the slot for setting the channel.:(
