O.K. Last post tonight... I promise!! I've just spent hours touching up on my post processing skills and now have so many great photos to share. This is Emma in her 1 year photo session. I know the images are a little soft, but I love the lighting! I tried some new textures by Shadowhouse Creations! I love the way these turned out.

Shots look great but I think the textures spoil it... :(

I have to agree.
Lovely shots, but the texture (especially where it's over the skin of the subject) is quite distracting.

Yeah, I guess you're right. The texture on the baby makes her just look dirty, doesn't it. Would the texture work and look good if it were erased from the skin?

In my own opinion I think any texture would look odd on this photo, why does it need a texture? it's a beautiful photo without it!

Well I redid them, turning back the texture a bit. Let me know if you think the texture is still too distracting. I've been admiring some work from one of my favorite childrens photographers. The background in a lot of her pictures looks as though it is painted on canvas. I love the way it looks. Of the pictures I have to work with, I thought the texture would work best on these. The finished pictures I gave to her parents did not have the texture. I'm glad to know that most like the pictures without it. That way I know I gave the parents the best pictures I could. So thank you all very much for the feed back.

Texture Tutorial (external link) I posted a while back, for future shots needing some texture.
Nice setting, cute kiddo, nice job.

Thanks Matt. Those were almost exactly the steps I used except without the history brush (not in Elements, so I used the eraser) and the gaussian blur. I'd like to use the blur to hopefully make the texture more subtle. Great tip!

stay away from the texture, it completely ruined the shot...
