I have the Canon 100mm 2.8 macro lense........and try to get beautiful shots like this but mine don't get any where near this gorgeous....think the extension tubes would do better than the 100mm or should I be able to get nice shots like this with more practice!!
The stone is simply perfect....with my 100mm you see every exclusion and flaw........what was your processing?

Extension tubes would not do a better job than a dedicated macro lens. Processed in lightroom with some contrast and vignetting to darken the surroundings for more color.

One light source roughly overhead and slightly left.

What do you think of the kenko tubes? I had no intention of buying a macro lens but these may be a great alternative.

Handy, but not as good as a macro lens.
