Damm it! Even when it "misses" it still gets the shot! Julian saying these shots are off isnt working  Go buy it :)

Hint hint: The focus was on the guy on the right in order to get the great crowd reaction :)

I've only used mine a handful of times since I picked it up, but it makes me giddy every time I do have a use for it. Absolutely the best 2k that I rarely use that I've ever spent :D

That's a pretty decent writeup; I have never used the original version of these lenses, so I can't compare to the Mk Is, but the IS in this thing is rock solid and really does allow for handholding ridiculously low shutter speeds, IMO.

Got the 100-400 already. I'll just make sure to shoot my boy at 400mm all the time. Then it would be similar (though not equal) to the 7-2/2.8II + 2xTC.

As I'm looking around... it's really... REALLY hard for me to justify the purchase of the 70-200/2.8II. But I s'pose if there comes a day where money's just flowing out of my ears, suuuuure, why not. ;)

Yeah, I am trying to justify it by saying the resale will be strong so if I ever sell i wont take a huge hit

I would love to upgrade my 70-200mm non IS but just can't afford the MKII. I've shot action and sports for 4 years with the non IS and have been completely pleased. I can't imagine what the new version would be like! I do know that my 2x extender does reduce image quality. From what I have seen the new combo is stellar! But for the $3,000 it would take for the new lens and extender combo I will have to wait a long time!
