Canon G11: Is it hike worthy?

Hey All,
As a pretty avid hiker, I've been looking for an alternative to carrying my big SLR kit with me on my hikes. Don't get me wrong, if I'm setting out to make photographs seriously, I'll haul my kit...but if I'm out having fun with friends, I'll leave my pro kit at home.
On a recent hike, I brought a Canon G11. I wrote about my experiences over on my workshop site at www.newwindworkshops.c​om

Loved reading about the G11 and seeing your shots. I, too have a G11 and have many of the same thoughts as you.

Hope you'll enjoy shooting with it on hikes. You'll find that eventually, you won't even want to pull out the bigger cameras for anything that isn't professional paid work.

I love you're pictures! They're awesome! I love to hike as well, and below is a picture I took with my lovely G11 on a hike I was recently on. The G11 is great for my hikes, although the hikes I take aren't not very extreme or strenuous. It's good if the pants/shorts you wear for hiking have pockets though, because the G11 fits in my pant pockets just fine, but having it around my neck all through out any hike is annoying. Usually, I keep it around my neck, but for the obvious areas where taking pictures would be impossible, I put it in my pocket. Hope I helped!
