Does this pic look flat? Something looks off and I can't put my finger on it.

Complete newb here and I'm wondering about that last quote? What's wrong exactly with sharpening too much? In this picture, the details pop out pretty well, how is it a problem? If you shoot in raw and sharpen heavily then save as a jpeg you can really notice oversharpening. This really happens when you crop your image alot to get closer. I'd like to see the raw image if there is one to compare. Dont get me wrong the hawk is a nice capture. I've been photographing RT's for some time and when you get a dead on look it's rare. www.ThruKurtsLens.com

Aug 10, 2010 21:12 | #10 I looked at the raw file. Well I make some big rookie mistakes. Well the major problem with the shot is that I way under exposed it. Funny I did not remember changing the exposure in post. Second mistake I made is that I did not change my setting back from earlyer that day when I was doing some land scapes. This shot was taken at f14 in stead of my usual 7.1 shutter speed 800 which is slow compared the what I like, and iso 100 instead 800-640 and to top it off I had EC set to -2/3. I guess I am luck that it came out at all. Side note crop was about 50% My Flickr
