I'm looking for a small bag to fit 5DII & 24-105L zoom. I hate having my camera on the rear seat of my car, always scared that it'll eventually fly and hit something.

I was looking for Lowepro Toploader Pro 70. Any other suggestions?

I have same and always use a custom Domke insert in a non photo bag or backpak -
very good but not expense.

Thanks! That might actually help, as I then drop my gear into any bag which doesn't have to look like it's carrying camera gear.

The smallest bag I have is the Domke F-5XB and it's amazingly useful and doesn't look like a camera bag.

I have the Lowepro Toploader Zoom AW and it works rather well (originally got it to house a T1i and a Canon EF-S 18-200mm for a trip to the Philippines). Can squeeze the 5D Mark II with EF 24-105mm f/4L w/ hood reversed plus an EF 50mm F/1.8 and a Speedlite, plus a bunch of accessories in the front pocket (shutter remote, mini giottos rocket, CPL, extra batteries, etc). Plus the AW cover is always nice to have.

Simple set up, expandable via the Sliplock system, although if you need a bag that has room to grow, you may find yourself quickly running out of space with the Toploader. But if you just need something to carry a relatively small loadout to keep your camera protected when you're out and about and not using it, the Toploader works well.

Thanks! The thing is, I already have Tamrac Messenger 5 bag that hosts all of my gear + has room for expansion. That's why I'm looking for a Body & Lens -type of bag to travel light, as I do most of the times. My Tamrac stays home, and I'm off with a body/lens combo. 24-105 & 85L are similar in size, so normally I just take either one of these.

Wow I just noticed that you're really into bags :)
I think the F-5XB will be big for my needs. I'm now looking for Lowepro Cirrus TLZ 25, as someone just suggested to me that this will fit 5D&24-105 lens just fine or a little tight. This will be the smallest setup possible, and should be very easy to carry.

I saw a review on Amazon showing that Crumpler 3MDH would barely fit 5D/24-70 attached. Might need to go for 4MDH.

The 5mdh is a safer bet, especially if you want to have the BG-E6 grip attached.

the 5dm2 with 24-105 will fit in a 3mdh, tight. a 4mdh would be better. a grip? neither bag would bag. so yes, 5mdh for gripped 5d2.
