Will an 18mp image look good on a 16x24 print?

This image was shot with my Canon 7d (18mp) at iso100 on a Canon 24-70L F2.4 lens. The image is tack sharp viewing it at 100% in Photoshop. It was shot in RAW and converted to TIFF and a professional lab will be printing the image. I was wondering if this image would still look good at a 16x24 print size or do I need something like Qimage to uprez the image?

Should be perfectly fine, just make sure to find out what colorspace ur professional lab takes, so your colors can be as accurate as possible.

I can't see a pic!?! Got me interested now. But for a test, take a couple of 100% crops and get some 4x6s done. Am.

Assuming it's in focus..it'll be just fine.
Don't "uprezz"it. You are wasting your time, and the time of your print shop.
Just keep as many pixels as you want to print.

Canon 7D 18MP is 5,184 × 3,456
16x24 @ 200 pixel density is 3200 x 4800

Since this won't be viewed at anywhere closer than 3 feet, you should be fine as long as the photo
is dead on focus and sharp. And you should also never crop after shooting if you plan on printing.
Should always frame properly so you don't need cropping.

The picture was a senior portrait and I need a large print to show clients. I have yet attempted a large print since the pruchase of the 7D. I am going with the theory if you don't have it they won't buy it. So I need a large print to show them so that they might be interested in buying for themself. I always have my lab use their color corrections and they do a GREAT job. The photo is dead on focus and sharp. Thanks for the all the replies!

Yep it'll look great up to about 50". I have a 50" print from an ISO800 5D classic, which is about 12MP from memory, it looks awesome.

OK. I give up! Did you actually post a picture? If you did I can't see it. Can anyone see it? Am.

This is a 40" print from a cropped 14.5mp image (Canon 7D cropped). I wouldn't want viewers to stand right next to it, but it looks good from about three feet back.

I used Genuine Fractals to scale it to 40" X 28" @ 300DPI.

24" should be a non-issue, even without third party enlargement software.

I have a 24x36 poster in my room, looks really bad up close as well. But who actually looks
up at larger print that close anyhow.

Anybody who really likes it will move in closer, depending on the subject matter.

If you don't, the lab will. My Pro only lab recommends that I send finished files, including upsized and 300/360 depending on finished size, since they say their software is not as good. At least they are honest.
