Loving my time up here in Yellowstone, plan to be here a long time. I have been getting more into climbing peaks since I arrived so most of the time I don't have a tripod or many lenses with me, so most of my shots nowadays are snapshots but I still feel the desire to share some of my experiences with you guys. Maybe I can convince someone to come out here and climb mountains with me!

So here are some various shots from the last month of working here in Yellowstone. Note that these shots are not all from inside the park boundaries, but all are within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Edit: Hopefully these shots load up correctly, still trying to figure out how to link shots from the new Flickr. Wow I hate the new Flickr! Anyway, hopefully these pictures show up for you guys!

1.) I'll start with a recent one, from yesterday actually. This was taken near Koch Basin, which is the stunning basin below Koch Peak in the Madison Range. Note this mountain doesn't even have a name, despite being so distinctive and being about 10,700 feet.

2.) Another shot of the area.

3.) Black Mountain with Pine Creek Lake in the foreground. This hike was the most beautiful I have ever been on. It is a 5 mile hike to the lake, with multiple waterfalls along the way. Once you get up near Pine Creek Lake, there is a series of three lakes, with waterfalls leading into and out of all of them. It is simply stunning.

4.) Some of the jagged walls around Bighorn Peak. Not sure what happened to the sky here... It was sure beautiful from the top.

5.) Flowers near Mystic Falls.

6.) Looking south from near the summit of Koch Peak. Imp Peak is the dominating mountain in the picture.

Thanks for the comments. I am really at home up here. My weekends are a vacation every time, and I am like a kid in a candy store with the infinite hikes around the Yellowstone area. Here are a few more shots, with a forecast of pink skies apparently haha. Need to start taking the time to actually use my filters while I hike.

7.) A view of one of the lakes near Black Mountain.

8.) A view from the summit of Koch, looking down at the previously posted mountains from a different angle. This also shows how much higher Koch is than them!

Great shots. You did an excellent job of capturing the geological diversity of that area and it amazes me to think of the immense forces acting on the Earth's crust that formed that area. Great comp and color saturation levels too.
