I have the 58 mm lens adapter for my G6. I was told that I could add filters to the end of the adapter. But when I took it to a camera shop to try on some filters for it, none fit the way I was told they would. So, is there really a way I can add certain filters to my camera?

This is strange - I just recently bought couple of filters for my G6 with size 58 mm - and it's fits perfectly!

Andrew, how did you fit them on there? I tried the filters I was looking at, and they just wouldn't go on. Is there some sort of attachment I need or brand of filters to fit on it?

At the end of adapter you will find carving, fretwork, which is suitable for 58 filters and converters, and filter also has 58 mm carving, so you just screw it on (on screw it in?)
you just need filters with carving (fretwork?) I have not seen in a store others as though read about them in a manuals (like a pice of glass, scuare one, but they usially different color, I do not know for what)

What adapter do you have?

Did the shop have filters that fit the 58mm? Or are you just trying to 'any' filter they had?

The lens adapter I have is LA-DC58D. It was a Ritz camera store, we did try the 58 mm ones they had, then we tried 52, 62, and so on. Now that I think of, I don't really think the guy had any idea what he was really doing.

Probably. My last comment was... are you sure they knew what they were doing at the store? Ritz camera isn't like a pro shop is it? They just hire people who know a little about cameras and do the 1 hour photo thing right?

Yea, you are very right about that now that I think about it. But I really don't know where to go around me so I can actually see if one fits onto it. I'm sure you wouldn't know of any place around me since you don't live where I am. But I want to get a filter that could help my G6 take some really nice black and white shots. Do you know of any plcae I can go to get these types?

Why don't you order from lensmateonline.com?

If you have Photoshop there's alot you can do with B&W instead of shooting in B&W.

Yea, I am planning on buying Elements 3 in a few days. What exactly can I do with black and white pics in that? I am just learning on it, and I just bought a book on it, but i haven't gotten that far yet. Can you give me some tips on that?

Shoot in normal mode on your G6 then manipulate it in Photoshop. Here's some actions for PS that you might want to try when you do get it:

Hey Thanks Hugry Writer! That was really a lot of help. I have a question regarding buying Elements itself. Could you help me on this one? I want to find the best price for Elements, and I know they have different packages out there. But I don't want to pay that $82+ price. Have any ideas of where I could get it from? Thanks!

www.Lensmateonline.com (external link) Would have been My FIRST place to shop for attachments for the "G's". I never go to Ritz unless I already know what I want, and they happen to have it. I have been far less than impressed with the expertise I have found there. Run, dont walk, back there and get your money back, then buy from someone that will sell you the right equipment the first time. ;)

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

I think the $82 is a good price. But eBay sellers have student prices that might match that. Check there.
