USB port ability of DSLRs

is there anyway or any addition to be added to the DSLR (i have the 7d)
which can gain us a USB port?
that would be cool so as to attach a HD straight to the camera and download the pics on the CF card.

I have a way to do that with my PDA - but I would really like to be able to do that vis a vis the camera.

Why not just grab an iPad? Import directly with a camera connection kit?

I doubt Canon would add that on as an accessory.

I think the WiFI transmitter has USB host functionality and would allow connection of an external HDD (and GPS and other stuff too)...

interesting idea. problem being compatibility - even if I had an ipad, which I dont, the USB port doesn't play nicely with HDDs. It is to save the pictures vis a vis USB cord (since we use CF and not SD cards) directly to the ipad. I was thinking of the idea of directly saving to HDD

the WFT-e5a for the 7d...
for $630 at B&H....not including the HDD. the only problem is that it is not a backup system proper rather in a RAID confromation - therefore it must be attached at the same time.

Just get a cheap netbook and shoot tethered using the provided Canon software.
