Joe Funnybone, S.F. Street Artist

I took my girlfriend to SF during 4th of July weekend (long time ago, I know). There were many street artist wanting to sketch us for a couple bucks, but we passed them all up until we came across an older white man. I think the way he interacted with his subjects pulled us to him. He was friendly, welcoming, and open. We easily spent an extra five minutes talking to him about his life after he was done sketching.

Turns out he's been on the streets of San Francisco for 35 years, 10 years in the same spot-- on the corner of Hyde and Jefferson Street. Definitely go pay him a visit if you're in town.

When I first saw these photos I thought it was a tribute to a dead guy. Maybe it's the sepia/washed out look.

What don't you like about the pp? I'll revert it back to full color and post up.

its very wassshed out...and it seems a bit underexposed.

the picture themselves are great though.

try this, do an overlay layer decrease opacity if it looks tooo contrasty then merge the layers, duplicate this layer and go on your curve and tone down the red till the face is close to a normal tone, then go back to your top layer and delete everything but his skin tone....this is just from looking at the full color one, not sure it will come out the way im thinking but give it a try, this will make the colors pop much more.....if i was home id give it a try...

Sounds great! He was a great guy to spend time with. These were shot over a year ago. I'd like to meet up with him again and do a photo story on him
