May I know given at same range eg 200mm and same aperature eg f8, which one has the better IQ (Sharpness & Contrast) Thanks! Sigma 70-200 f2.8 OS HSM Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD The Sigma. At f8 they are close, but going both directions from there it's not even a fair contest. The Sigma is an entirely different class of lens. AF speed, OS operation, and build quality on the Sigma are superior. But the Sigma is much larger and heavier. Even when you throw a 1.4x TC on the Sigma you end up with about the same quality of the Tamron at 280mm. I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.

Just got to say the focus just snaps closed on a 5d3... What do you mean by snaps closed? Canon 60D, Tamron 17-50 2.8, Sigma 10-20, 50mm f 1.8, Sigma 70-200 2.8 OS

Got the lens yesterday. I kind of forgot how heavy a f/2.8 can be. I don't think it tracks focus as well as the 70-200 f/4L IS. Shot at 1/1600sec at f/2.8, ISO 800 and the dog is really moving fast so perhaps it would be sharper with the 1/2 stop down that the lens is said to need. Udo comes for dinner
