It doesn't lock onto the subject, it clamps with the 5d3. "Can't list equipment, wife checks here to see what I have bought lately" (calicokat)

Haven’t had much time with it yet, but one quick observation, and a question: I noticed AF sort of “jumps” while trying to focus on a subject. Is that normal? Is that AF doing that, or the OS? Thank you all in advance. Will post some pics when I have a chance to play around with it. The OS on this lens does seem a little strange. It seems to turn off instantly when you remove pressure from the shutter button. I've only had mine a few days and the jury is still out as to wether I will keep it or return it. I'll know after this weekend.

Took it out this weekend to see what I can get out of it. I'm not going to say I'm impressed but the lens did OK. I think the sharpness at f/2.8 is acceptable for most prints but it is uninspiring to view on the monitor. As everyone has said, it gets quite a bit better stopped down 1/2 stop. I was on the fence as to wether I would send this back or not. Overall it will do for now but certainly when funds are available, I will get the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS II. Here's a couple fully processed at f/3.5 and f/4 respectively. Taken with the 50D on a monopod. IMG_6670-Edit IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hotbobs/7193361622/ IMG_6378-Edit
