Bought this lens a couple of weeks ago, really impressed with it. I've always liked Sigma lenses, and this one is probably the best one I've used yet. Here's a few random shots from it the past few weeks...

This one and the coyote were with the 2xTC...

Am I the only one to have a love/hate relationship with this lens?
It's not the most stellar performer wide open at 200mm if you look closely at the egdes, which is what bugs the heck out of me, but for most shots I take wide open I'm not after tack sharpness at the edge anyway! On the other hand, the big plus for me is it's not white so doesn't stand out in a crowd like a sore thumb.
When I think I've just made up my mind yet again to ditch it, I see performance like this with a bright back-lit subject and think why am I being so silly!
Has anyone who owned this lens and ditched it for a Canon version ever wondered why they spent all that extra money, and was it actually worth it if they are really honest with themselves?
With the advent of the 70-200 f2.8 mk3 Canon just announced, I see the mk2 versions dropping in price to something I can afford, and I am tempted to part with some folding stuff.
Thoughts on a postcard please.

Thanks Bobster - perhaps I have a copy with an element alignment issue. I have a set of buildings about 1/2 a mile away that are pretty much sqaure on to me and serve as a very good test for telephone lenses. My EF-S 55-250 (on a crop) wipes the floor with the Sigma on a FF. The Sigma is sharp in the middle, but soft as old boots IMHO from about 1/3 frame in from each edge on a FF body, and I would say always has been from day one, but I didn't notice quite how bad it truely is until I bought a FF body long after any warranty had expired.

Sigma Service are very nice people. Send it in to them and see what they can do for you :)
