I would have had her looking at you..She looks very "tight" in her pose..a tad more relaxed would have given her a far better feel.

BTW, she is beautiful.

you're a great friend, but if Zombies chase us, I am tripping you.

I agree. She doesn't look very relaxed, and it would be good to have eye contact, but what stood out to me first was that I'd prefer more space on the right and less on the left. Is this the full image or can you crop differently?

It is a very unfortunate pose. while we tend to think of long legs being elegant, this shot misses that sense of elegance by a long way. It is easy to see why... let your eye follow along the back of the thigh until it gets to the step the lady is sitting upon. The flattened bottom and then the drop down to the back of the thigh by means of an awkward looking angle where we would not expect to see one, is partly responsible for the awkward look.

The stiffness of the extended leg is accentuated by the awkwardly held body and the extended shoulder joint, ending in a hand that appears to be holding the whole of the body weight. There is nothing to suggest that the pose is very relaxing and that creates some tension in the image. The observer cannot help but be uncomfortable in sympathy for the model. Any prop can be used to support a model, with the proviso that it does not put the body into any shape which looks unnatural to the human eye.

I don't think that too much can be done to rescue this image because the pose cannot be corrected in post. The skin tone looks to be reasonable and the background is dark, which is to be expected where you have used an on-camera flash unit. You possibly could have illuminated the background by using bounced flash from the ceiling. A slow shutter speed and a large aperture would also have let in more ambient light... while letting the flash make the actual exposure.

if you keep on doing what you have been doing, you're going to keep on getting the same result

I would say more of the same, I do not like a total profile of the face when the body is doing so much, the pose is a bit awkward but you may could have pulled it off if you was shooting at her 6 or 7 instead of her 9 and she was looking at you. Not real keen on the all the dark background picture right. Just not a very flattering background.

I do think the quality is good, the concept was there and you def had the right model.

Keep up the great efforts and post back with more.

I too agree... She looks very tight... If she were to look more relaxed and natural, this would be an awesome shot... Go back on vacation and try again :-)

Pixel you really broke things down and I appreciate it all
This was my first "model shoot" as Im usually covering events and parties.
This was outside by the pool so there was nowhere to bounce. I used the on camera flash and another speedlight held by my inebriated friend right behind her lol I had no other modifiers available (sto-fen only)

BigAlz I didnt think about moving my feet to another angle because I was just so excited that the light looked good on the camera LCD (noob mistake, mental note)

Jack I LOVE that idea.... If only I had the money to go right back out there lol

the pose screams 'body builder.' If that's what she's looking for, ok. To me it doesn't look very femanine.

You will learn (well I have) to take shots at different angles and FL on purpose, even if it's not the shot you have in your mind at that exact second especially on location. I did a shoot with a young female almost two weeks ago and one of the best shots, and her favorite, was a tight zoomed shot I did as part of taking multiple shot on purpose that I normally wouldn't have planned out.

Here is the shot as it was took. It was a crop that I normal don't do. I don't cut off heads and arms lol but just to show that since you have a digital camera it pays to take as many shots as you can from different angles and zooms
